PDF booklet

🔒 Runs locallyPDF tools

Impose PDF pages for a fold-and-staple booklet.

PDF booklet reorders and pairs pages two-per-sheet so that duplex-printing the result in order and folding the stack down the middle produces a booklet with pages in correct reading sequence.

How to use

  1. Upload a PDF and choose a sheet size.
  2. Download the result, then print it double-sided (flip on the short edge) in page order.
  3. Fold the stack down the middle — the pages will read in the correct order.

Common use scenarios

  • Turning a short document into a foldable, staple-in-the-middle booklet.
  • Preparing a program, zine, or handout for center-fold binding.
  • Printing a compact booklet version of a report for physical distribution.
  • Producing print-ready output for a home or office printer without specialized booklet software.

How we verify PDF booklet

How to confirm the imposed pages will fold into the right order.

Print duplex, in page order, then fold

The output pages must be printed double-sided in the order they appear (flipping on the short edge), then the whole stack folded once down the middle — the pages will then read correctly.

Page count is padded to a multiple of 4

Booklet imposition requires the page count to be a multiple of 4; if your document isn't, the last sheet has one or two blank slots rather than misplacing content.

Each output page already contains two source pages

The output isn't one-page-per-sheet — each page you download is a landscape sheet already showing two original pages side by side, ready to print as-is.

Before you rely on the result

  • You understand the output must be printed double-sided (short-edge flip) and folded once to read correctly.
  • You've checked your printer's duplex settings match "flip on short edge" before printing.
  • You've confirmed the sheet size (A4/Letter) matches the paper you'll print on.

Who this is for

  • Anyone making a small booklet, program, or zine on a standard printer.
  • People preparing a short report or handout for center-fold binding.
  • Anyone who needs print-ready booklet pages without dedicated booklet-printing software.

Real-world examples

Printing a small event program

An organizer turns an 8-page program into booklet-imposed sheets, prints them double-sided at a copy shop, and folds the stack into a professional-looking booklet.

Making a foldable zine

A student creates a short zine, uses the booklet tool to get the page order right, then prints and staples it at the fold.

Limitations

  • Pads the page count up to a multiple of 4 with blank slots — very short documents may have unused space on the last sheet.

Frequently asked questions

Why don't the pages look right when I open the PDF normally?

Booklet-imposed pages are meant to be printed and folded, not read on-screen in order — the reordering only makes sense once the physical sheets are folded.

What if my document's page count isn't a multiple of 4?

The tool pads the layout with blank slots on the final sheet so the imposition still works correctly.

Do I need special software to print this?

No — any printer with double-sided (duplex) printing support works; just make sure it's set to flip on the short edge.
